What is Trinky?

Trinky is a social search engine which encourages users to search, bookmark and share their favorite things with their networks. At Trinky find people, professionals, products, events, brands and places of interest then add them to your favorites and save them.

How do I sign up to Trinky?

Simply go to the Trinky homepage and fill out the necessary fields on the sign up section on the left hand side of the page. As soon as you have filled out all of the obligatory fields, click on sign up. A confirmation email will then be send to the email address that you provided. To complete the sign up click on the confirmation link in the email. This must be done within 48 hours of signing up.

What happens if my confirmation email doesn't arrive?

Check that you’re looking for the confirmation email in the correct email account that you registered with. Please first check the Junk/Spam mail folder in your email account in case it was misdirected by your email provider. If you still don’t receive an email then contact us.

Does it cost money to use Trinky?

Trinky is completely free for members who have a personal account. Only professionals representing companies can, if they choose to, pay and create a premium account which has numerous benefits and advantages.

What is the minimum age requirement for a member?

In order to be eligible to sign up for Trinky, users must be at least 13 years old

What happens if my name is rejected during sign up?

If your name is rejected a red box will appear around your name alerting you that there is a problem with your name. You will also see a star underneath the sign up form alerting you what the problem is. Several things may explain why your name is rejected:

  • Your full name is obligatory (first and last name).
  • The account must be for personal use (not professional). If you represent a business, a brand, a product or a place then you have to create a business account.
  • When creating a Trinky account you can only represent one single user. Accounts representing groups (strictly more than one person) are forbidden.

What happens if my email address is rejected during sign up?

If your email address is rejected then a red box will appear around the email box and a star will appear underneath the sign up section alerting you that you have entered an invalid email address. If you entered a correct active email address then it should not be rejected. Make sure that you entered the correct email address, of the form name@domain.com, when you signed up. If the problem persists then you can try to use an alternate email address or contact us.

There already exists an account associated with my email address.

Make sure that you have entered your email address correctly when signing up. Please be aware that you can only sign up for one Trinky account per email address. If you have already opened a Trinky account in the past which you have not deactivated then you will not be able to use this email address.

I would like to create an account for a business, a product or a celebrity.

Trinky user accounts must be for personal use (not professional). If you represent a business, a brand, a product or a place, it is obligatory to create a business account.

Search


How do I conduct a search on Trinky?

To conduct a search on Trinky go to your profile and click on ‘search’ on the top left hand side. Enter whatever you are searching for in the search box and then click on the blue ‘search’ button.

How do I filter my search results?

Underneath the search box on Trinky there is a selection of categories which allow you to filter your search. If you click on ‘see all categories’ you can see all of the options available. For example if you are searching for a restaurant you can filter your search by clicking on the restaurant category icon, finding only the relevant restaurant information desired. You can then filter your search further by using the filter options on the left which allow you to choose more specifically what you are looking for and further refine your results until you find exactly what you are looking for. Furthermore, if you click on ‘categories’ on the left hand side you can filter your search to find something more easily. You can choose to see all results, members, pages, deals, guides, events or groups.

How do I search for members on Trinky

To find members on Trinky go to your profile and click on ‘search’ on the top left hand side. You can then either type the name of the member into the box directly or alternatively click on ‘categories’ and then select ‘members’. Type the name of the member of the person you are looking for in the search box and then a list of members will appear. Once you have found the member that you are looking for you can click on ‘add to my friends ’ and also have the option to send them a private message by clicking on ‘send a message.’

Why can’t I find someone in a search?

If you cannot find a member of Trinky, try searching for them by using their first and last name. If you still cannot find them this may mean that their privacy settings restrict other members from searching for them. It may also mean that they are not yet a member of Trinky. In this case please invite them to join!

How do I search for a group on Trinky?

To find a group on Trinky go to your profile and click on ‘search’ on the top left hand side. You can then filter your search by clicking on ‘groups’ and then further filter your search to select what type of group you are looking for depending on the different categories. Alternatively you can type in the name of the group or information related to a group that interests you into the search box at the top of the page and any relevant groups will then appear. Once you have found the group that interests you and that you would like to join, click on ‘join.’

How do I search for deals on Trinky?

To find deals on Trinky go to your profile and click on ‘search’ on the top left hand side. Click on ‘categories’ and then select ‘deals’ to see a list of the latest deals. You will be able to see information about the deal and the terms and conditions. If you are searching for a specific type of deal then you can type what you are looking for in the search box at the top of the page to see a list of relevant deals.

How do I search for events on Trinky?

To find events on Trinky go to your profile and click on ‘search’ on the top left hand side. Click on ‘categories’ and then select ‘events’ to see a list of your events. You will be able to see the events and relevant information and details about the event. You will have the option to RSVP to the event by clicking on the relevant option which appears at the bottom of the event information.

How do I search for guides on Trinky?

To find guides on Trinky go to your profile and click on ‘search’ on the top left hand side. Click on ‘categories’ and then select ‘guides’ to see a list of guides. You can further filter your search by clicking on one of the filtered guide categories which appear underneath ‘guides.’ You will be able to see information and details of the guide. If you are searching for a specific guide then you can type what you are looking for in the search box at the top of the page to see a list of relevant guides. You can then click on the ‘follow’ icon to follow the guide.

How do I search for directions and maps on Trinky?

To find directions and maps on Trinky, once you have found the relevant page click on ‘map’ on the top right hand corner of the page.

Bookmarks


What is the point of bookmarking a page?

When you conduct a search on Trinky using the search box on the top of the page, not only can you mark the results which you find relevant but also for those which you would like to revisit and keep for future reference you can bookmark the page. This allows you to save the page for future use and allows you to find it more easily when you need it. If you find a page that you have bookmarked interesting and useful you can also add it to your favorites.

How do I bookmark a page on Trinky?

Simply click on the heading add to bookmarks on the page that you would like to bookmark for future use.

How do I see all of the pages that I have bookmarked?

Click on the heading bookmarks on your profile and you will see all of the pages which you have bookmarked.

How do I see what pages my friends have bookmarked?

Simply go to the profile page of your friend and click on the heading bookmarks to see which pages they have bookmarked.

How long are pages stored once I have bookmarked them?

Once you have bookmarked a page on Trinky it will remain there indefinitely unless you choose to remove it.

How do I include a comment to a page that I have bookmarked?

Click on the heading ‘include a comment’ on the page that you have bookmarked.

How do I remove a page that I have previously bookmarked?

Go to your bookmarks and then click on the page which you would like to remove from your bookmarks. Click on the heading remove found on the page and then the page will be removed from your bookmarks.

Recommendations


What are the benefits of recommendations on Trinky?

Trinky is a search engine which allows you to share your favorite pages with your network in order to make searches more relevant and efficient. The recommendations allow you not only to benefit from the expertise of your network but also to share your plans and favorite pages with your network.

How do I recommend a page to a friend on Trinky?

When you find a page that you would like to recommend on Trinky, simply click on recommend. This page will then be stored in your recommendations on your profile which your friends can see (if your privacy settings allow this). You can recommend a page to a specific friend or many people at once on Trinky by clicking on recommend and then choosing the appropriate option. Alternatively you can go to your friend’s profile and then click on ‘recommend’ under their profile picture.

How do I recommend a page that someone has recommended to me on Trinky?

Go to the page that you would like to recommend and then click on ‘recommend.’ Select the friend(s) that you would like to recommend the page to and then they will receive your suggestion.

How do I see all of the pages that I have recommended on Trinky?

All of the pages that you have recommended on Trinky are stored in your recommendations which can be found on your profile.

How do I see the pages that people have recommended to me on Trinky?

Go to your homepage and then click on ‘favorites’ on the top left hand side and then click on ‘recommendations received.’

How do I bookmark a page that someone has recommended to me on Trinky?

Simply click on the page and then select ‘bookmark.’ The page will then be stored in your bookmarks on your profile.

Home page & News Feed


What is the news feed?

News Feed is where all the current stories from the people and pages you follow on Trinky appear. It is found on your homepage and is constantly updated.

What types of content can appear in News Feed?

Most applications appear in News Feed in addition to the stories from your friends and the pages you follow. You can view tagged photos, friend requests, group memberships, event invitations and RSVPS, which will all appear in the Top News Section and the Most Recent Streams within News Feed.

How do I control what I see in my news feed?

Click on the heading ‘settings’ on the top right hand side of the page then select the heading ‘privacy settings’ and then choose the privacy levels which suit you. You can control who can see specific elements of your news feed.

How do I use the left hand column on my homepage to view different types of content?

Clicking on different options within the left-hand column of your home page lets you view different things. The different options are: Search, News feed, favorites, bookmarks, events, groups, guides, deals and friends. As well as these different options, you can also find links which provide shortcuts to all the groups and applications you frequently use.

Where are requests on the homepage?

On the homepage you will receive a notification when you receive a request. Your notifications can be found on your profile page on the top right hand side of the page. If you receive new notifications, a red box will appear on your next to the relevant image on the right hand side of the page with. The number inside the box represents the number of new notifications you have received.

Where are my upcoming events?

Your upcoming events can be found under the heading ‘events’ on the left hand side of your home page. Click on ‘my events’ and then all of your events will be listed. You can search for a particular event using the search box at the top of the page and can also use the filter category icons at the top of the page. You can also see your upcoming events that you have been invited to in a box on the right hand side of the page. These appear in chronological order.

How do I RSVP to an event invitation?

Click the heading ‘events’ on the left hand side of your homepage and then click on ‘invitations received’ to see a list of the events that you have been invited to. You can respond to the upcoming event that you wish to RSVP to by clicking on the appreciate heading and then clicking on ‘RSVP’.

Where can I create an event and how do I create one?

Go to your homepage and then click on ‘events’ on the top left hand side of the page. Then click on ‘my events’ and then click on ‘create an event’ which is at the top right hand side of the page. Follow the steps to create an event.

How can I remove an event from my upcoming events?

Go to your events and then click on ‘remove’ at the bottom of the event that you wish to remove. The event will then be removed from your upcoming events.

How do I see my friend’s events?

Go to your homepage and then click on ‘events’ on the top left hand side of the page. Then click on ‘my friends events.’ to see a list of your friends events. You can search for a particular friend or event using the search box and filter icons found at the top of the page.

News/Wall


What can I do on the wall?

The wall allows you to post and share information with all your friends. Share your thoughts with others by using the share menu at the top of your profile and home page. You can update all your friends by changing your status and share other application features such as photos, videos and links. Everything you choose to share is posted on your wall and will show in the News Feed, however you can choose who is allowed to view your updates and posts by changing your privacy settings.

What is the box at the top of my wall for?

The box at the top of your wall is where you are able to share your thoughts. You can update your status and share other application features such as photos, videos and links. Everything you choose to share here is posted on your wall and will show in the News Feed. However, you can choose who is allowed to view your updates and posts by changing your privacy settings.

What happens when I create content on my wall?

Every time you share content, it is posted on your wall as a story and will show in the News Feed to notify your friends that you have shared a story on their homepage when they log in. however, you can choose who is allowed to view your stories by changing your privacy settings.

Who can see my wall?

To decide who can see the content of your wall, click ‘settings’ on the top right hand side of the page and then click the option ‘privacy settings’ to choose the level of privacy you want, e.g everyone, friends of friends, friends only or recommended.

How do I write on someone’s wall?

On your friend’s profile page at the top of their wall use the share option to write or share something on their wall.

Whose wall can I write on?

You can write on any of your friends’ walls. But you may not be able to post on people’s walls that have set their privacy settings to restrict their walls from being posted on.

How do I delete a wall post or story?

To delete a wall post or story from your wall, click the ‘x’ button on the right of the post and then choose the option ‘delete’ to confirm that you want to remove the post. Remember that after the post has been deleted, it cannot then be restored.

How do I delete my entire wall?

Currently you are not able to delete your entire wall. However, you are able to delete individual posts from your wall as well as choosing who is allowed to view your wall by changing your privacy settings.

Is it possible to approve wall posts before they are added?

Currently it is not possible to approve wall posts before they are posted onto your wall. But you have the option to control who can view the posts on your wall, and you can also delete any undesired posts.

How do I hide stories about my recent activity?

Click on the ‘Remove’ button on the right hand side of the story to remove recent activity. You can also edit your individual privacy settings to stop certain people from viewing recent activity stories on your profile.

How do I edit the privacy settings for my wall?

Click on the option ‘settings’ at the top right hand side of the page, then select the option ‘privacy settings’ to choose the level of privacy you want. You can decide who has access to your wall. E.g you can choose from the following four privacy setting options; everyone, friends of friends, friends only, and recommended.

Notifications


Where are my notifications?

Your notifications can be found on your profile page on the top right hand side of the page. If you receive new notifications, a red box will appear on your next to the relevant image on the right hand side of the page with. The number inside the box represents the number of new notifications you have received. For example if you receive a new message a red box will appear next to the picture of the envelope with the number of new messages you have received. In order to see all of your notifications click on ‘other notifications’ and a list of all of your notifications will appear.

Messages


How do I send a message ?

To send a message on Trinky, simply click on the heading ‘messages’ on the top left hand side of the page and then ‘new message.’ Enter the name of the member who you would like to message and you can include a subject. Compose the message and then clock ‘send.’ You can include a favourite, a link or a photo in message by clicking on ‘attach’ underneath the message box and then attaching the information that you wish to send. Alternatively you can go to the profile of the friend that you would like to message and then click on ‘send a message’ underneath their profile picture.

How do I send a message to several people at once?

On the page ‘compose a new message’ enter the first and/or last name of the user you would like to message, then repeat this process for all of the other people that you would also like to include in the message to and they will be added. Create the message and press send and all of the people who you selected will receive the message.

What happens when I message someone?

Once a message has been sent, it will appear in the person’s Messages application. They will be notified that they have received a new message on their home page if they have chosen for this setting or can even be notified by an email.

How do I send a photo in a message?

In the message box click on ‘attach’ which is below the message box and then click on ‘photo’. You then have the options to download a photo that you can search for on your computer or take a photo. Once you have chosen the photo that you would like to send click ‘send’ and it will appear in the message.

Who can message me?

You can control who can message you by clicking on the heading ‘settings’ on the top right hand side of the page then select the heading ‘privacy settings.’ Click on ‘contact’ on the left hand side of the page and then you will be able to choose who can send you a message by clicking on the box to the right and selecting your preferred privacy setting. Once this is done press save and your settings will be updated.

How do I know that I have received a new message?

The number which appears next to the title ‘messages’ on the top left hand side of the page, indicates how many new inbox messages you have. When you receive a new message you will receive a notification. If you go to your profile, the number which appears in a red box next to the image of the envelope indicates how many new messages you have received. You can click on this directly to access your messages. Alternatively, to read your new messages go to ‘messages’ and then click on ‘received’ messages on the left hand side. You can mark a message as ‘read’ or ‘unread’, signal it as span or delete a message by selecting the message by ticking the box to the left of it and then choosing the appropriate heading at the top of the received message page.

How do I delete a message?

Go to your messages and then click on ‘messages received’ and then tick the box that appears to the left of the image. Once you have selected the message(s) that you would like to delete click on ‘delete’ on the top right hand side of the page.

Can I retrieve deleted messages?

No, unfortunately there is no way for you to retrieve deleted messages.

Can I unsend a message once it has been sent?

Once a message has been sent, it cannot be unsent or removed from the recipient’s Messages. Furthermore, email notifications for newly received messages can show the entire content of the message, depending on personal settings, so this should be kept in mind when sending a message.

What is a thread?

A ‘thread’ is one message which is sent to a number of recipients. You can choose to respond to everybody in the thread by clicking on the blue ‘reply’ button or to an individual by clicking the ‘reply’ button for that specific person. This will create a new private thread between you and the chosen recipient.

How does the message search work?

The search box allows you to quickly find a message that you are looking for more. Simply enter the name of the person whose message you are looking for or the subject of the message and this will filter your message search to help you find the message that you are looking for.

Photos


How do I create a photo album?

On your profile click on the heading ‘photos’ on the left hand side of the page and then click on ‘create an album’ and follow the steps.

How do I edit a photo album?

On your profile click on the heating ‘photos’ on the left hand side of the page then click on ‘edit an album’ and you will be able to edit the album and information associated with it. Click on ‘save’ and your album will be updated.

How do I add a caption to a photo?

Click on the photo then click on add a comment, enter the comment and click on ‘comment.’

How do I see my friends’ photos?

Go to the profile of the friend whose photos you would like to see. Click on the heading ‘photos’ on their profile and you can look through their albums and tagged photos, if their privacy settings allow this.

Friends


How do I add a friend?

To add a friend who is already a member of Trinky, all you need to do is use the search box which is found at the top of the page and enter the last name and/or first name of the friend. Select the friend you are looking for and then click on ‘send a request’ to add them.

I can’t add a friend.

If you can’t add a friend, check that you have spelt their name correctly. Try searching for them using their last name. If you find a friend but cannot add them it may be due to their privacy settings. If this is the case then you will not be able to add this user but can still send them an inbox message.

I sent someone a request, but they did not receive it.

Please provide adequate time for the person to take action on the request as they may have missed the notification email or may have not seen it on their Home page yet. If you sent this request using the Friend Finder, please make sure that you sent it to an email address that is listed on this person's account. If the request was sent to a different email address, then it will not appear in their account

How do I remove or cancel a friend request I made to someone?

Visit the person's profile and click the "Cancel Friend Request" link underneath the profile photo.

How do I accept a friend request?

When someone sends you a friend request on Trinky, a window will appear on the right hand side of the page with the name of the person who has added you. Click on this friend request and then on accept. To see all of your friend requests go to your homepage and click on ‘friends’ then click on ‘friend requests’. Next to each request there is a button which allows you to accept or refuse the request.

How do I remove or delete a friend?

If you no longer wish to appear in the network of a friend or so not want them to share your information, go to the profile page of this person and click on ‘remove from friends.’ Confirm that you want to delete this friend and then they will be removed from your network.

Will someone know if I delete them?

No they will not be alerted but all friend links are reciprocal, so you will be removed as a friend from their friend list as well.

Will someone know if I block them?

No. Blocking someone is completely confidential, and the person will not be notified that he or she has been blocked.

If I reject a friend request, will the sender find out?

No. The friend request will be removed from your list of friendships to confirm, and the sender won't be notified.

Where can I see a list of all of the people who I am friends with on Trinky?

You can see a list of all of your friends on Trinky by going to the homepage and then clicking on ‘friends’ on the left hand side of the page. Then click on ‘my friends’ and you will be able to see all of the people who you are friends with.

What are friend suggestions?

Friend suggestions are friends that you may know and want to add on Trinky as you have friends in common with them. You can view your friend suggestions by going to the homepage and then clicking on ‘friends’ and then ‘friend suggestions’ to see which friends have been suggested to you. If you would like to add one of these suggested friends, simply click on the heading ‘add to my friends’ which appears next to their name.

How do I suggest a friend to someone?

Go to the person’s profile who you would like to suggest a friend to and then click on ‘recommend’ underneath their profile picture and you can then suggest a friend to them.

Where do friend suggestions appear?

Friend suggestions appear on the homepage. Click on ‘friends’ and then ‘friend suggestions’ to see what friends have been suggested to you.

What are friend lists?

Friend lists allow you to organize your friends into different groups on Trinky. You can modify the amount of activity you wish to see on your home page from each friend list, as well as setting different privacy settings.

How do I create a friend list?

Go to your homepage and then click on ‘my friends’ and then click on ‘create a list’ on the top right hand side of the page. To customize the privacy settings for each friend list go to your account and then privacy settings and select your preferred settings When you add a friend or accept a friend request there is an option to choose the list(s) that you would like to add this friend to.

How many friend lists can I have?

You can have as many friend lists as you like!!

How many friends can I have on a friend list?

You can add as many friends as you like to each friend list.

How do I delete a friend from a list?

Go to your friends and then click on the list which your friend is in. Find the friend that you would like to delete from the list and then click on the grey ‘x’ on the top right hand side to delete them from the list.

How can I use friend lists to help control my privacy?

You can choose different privacy settings for your Friend Lists, which allows you to control your privacy to a higher level by being able to decide who of your friends can have access to your profile.

Under the Privacy Settings, click ‘Customize’ to open the Custom Privacy pop up. Below the heading ‘Make this open to’ you can click ‘Specific People’ which will then allow you to enter the names of the Friend Lists you want to share your profile with. Note that the highest level of privacy setting will be used for friends in more than one Friend List which have different settings.

How do I invite my friends to join Trinky?

You can invite your friends to join Trinky by going to your homepage and then clicking on ‘friends’ on the left hand side of the page. Then click on ‘friend suggestions.’ At the bottom of the page you will see the box which allows you to invite your friends who are not yet on Trinky to come and join. Simply add their email addresses and you can include a message and then click on ‘send.’ An invitation will then be sent to your friend(s) to join Trinky.

Groups


Where can I find my groups?

Your groups can be found on your homepage. Click on ‘groups’ on the left hand side and then click on ‘my groups’ to see a list of your groups. You can search for a specific group using the search box at the top of the page and filter your search by using the selecting the appropriate category icon.

How do I join a group?

To find a group on Trinky go to your profile and click on ‘search’ on the top left hand side. You can then filter your search by clicking on ‘groups’ and then further filter your search to select what type of group you are looking for depending on the different categories. Alternatively you can type in the name of the group or information related to a group that interests you into the search box at the top of the page and any relevant groups will then appear. Once you have found the group that interests you and that you would like to join, click on ‘join.’

How many groups can I join?

You can join as many groups as you like.

How do I leave a group?

Go to your groups and then clock on the grey cross on the top right hand corner of the group that you would like to leave.

How do I create a group?

Go to your homepage and click on ‘my groups’ on the left hand side on the page. Then click on ‘create a group’ on the top right hand side and follow the steps to create a group.

How do I invite friends to a group?

Go to the group that you would like to invite friends to and then click on ‘invite friends’ which is found at the bottom left hand side of the group.

Where can I see my friend’s groups?

Go to your homepage and then click on ‘groups’ on the left hand side of the page and then click on ‘my friends groups’ to see a list of your friends groups. You can search for a particular friend or group using the search box and filter icons found at the top of the page. Alternatively you can go to your friend’s profile page and then click on ‘their groups’.

Favourites


What is the point of storing pages in favorites?

You can store the pages which you find relevant and useful in your favorites. E.g. when you conduct a search on Trinky, when you consult your notifications or when you check your friends’ information. This will allow you to find them easily in the future if you want to find them again. Also, your friends can look at your favorites to find out what kind of things interest you and vica versa. This allows you to save your favorite professionals, products, places, brands and places with your network.

Where can I find my favorites?

You can find your favorites on your profile or your homepage. Click on ‘my favorites’ on the top left hand side of the page to see a list of your favorite Trinky pages.

How do I add a page to my favorites?

When you find a page which you would like to add to your favorites whether it is a professional page, a product, an event, a brand or place, simply click on ‘add to favorites.’

How do I remove a page from my favorites?

To remove a page from your favourite, go to the favourite that you would like to remove and click on the cross on the top right hand corner of the box.

How do I recommend one of my favorite pages with a friend?

Go to your profile and click on ‘my favorites’ on the top left hand side of the page to see a list of your favorite Trinky pages. Click the ‘recommend’ icon the on the favorite that you would like to recommend and then select the friend that you would like to recommend the page to. Alternatively you can go to your friend’s profile and then click on ‘recommend’ under their profile picture.

How do I see my friends’ favorite Trinky pages?

To see your friends’ favorite Trinky pages, go to your homepage and then click on ‘favorites’ on the top left hand side of the page. Then click on ‘my friends’ and you will see a list of your friends’ favorite Trinky pages. Yu can filter and refine your searches to find specific favorite pages.

Guides


What is the point of the guides on Trinky ?

Guides allow you to group together your favorite Trinky pages, making a community feeling. You can benefit from the expertise of your network by consulting their guides and also by creating your own guides.

Where can I find the guides?

Go to your homepage and then click on ‘guides’ on the left hand side of the page. You can then see your guides, your friend’s guide, guide invitations received and city guides by clicking on the relevant heading. You can search for a specific guide more quickly by using the search box at the top of the page as well as the filter category icons.

How do I create a guide?

Go to guides and then click on ‘my guides’ and then click on ‘create a guide’ on the top right hand side of the page and follow the steps to create your guide.

How do I follow a guide that one of my friends is following?

Go to the guide that you would like to follow and click on ‘follow’ which is found at the bottom of the guide.

Pages

Interactions


How do I interact with other Trinkers?

To interact with other Trinkers you can plan events and add other members to them. You can also suggest pages to Trinkers by recommending them to other Trinkers and create guides. You can also interact by posting on their wall, sending inbox messages and instant messenger.

How do I interact with a professional?

You can send messages to professionals, receive messages from them, and benefit from their promotion campaigns.

How do I start a conversation with someone using chat?

What happens when I send someone an instant message?

When you send someone an instant message a pop-up will appear on their profile with your name at the top, alerting them that you have started an instant messenger conversation. They can click on this to view your message and carry on the conversation.

Can I chat with more than one person at the same time?

You can speak to several people at once using instant messenger. To do this, start several different conversations by clicking on instant messenger on the bottom left hand side of the page then select the friend who you wish to chat to. Repeat the same process for all of the other friends who you also wish to have an instant messenger conversation with.

Can I have group chats on Trinky?

Yes, you can have group chats on Trinky. Click on the instant messenger box on the bottom left hand side of the page then click on ‘list of friends’ on the top left hand side of the box and you can choose which group of friends you would like to speak to. Click the appropriate option and then start typing. When you send your message all of the members of the group that you selected will receive the instant message and can reply.

How do I get out of a group chat?

To get out of a group chat simply click on the cross on the top right hand side of the conversation box.

Can I send photos and videos on instant messenger?

You cannot send photos or videos via instant messenger. If you wish to send a video or photo to a friend you can do so by posting on their wall or in an inbox message.

How do I go offline from chat?

Click on the instant messenger box on the bottom left hand side of the page then click on options on the top right hand side of the box. Select ‘sign out’ and then you will appear offline from chat.

Can anyone on Trinky contact me in chat?

No, only your confirmed friends on Trinky can contact you using the instant messenger.

Can I block or prevent a friend from chatting with me?

What does it mean to use friend lists in chat, and what is the benefit?

Friend lists allow you to organize your friends into different groups in your Chat List. This feature has many benefits, including:

Appearing offline to certain people – by having separate friend lists, you can choose the option to ‘Go Offline’ on specific lists whilst still appearing ‘Online’ to chat to people grouped in other lists.

Efficiently find friends - having different friend lists will shorten your complete chat list, helping you to find friends faster. Eg. Having a friends list for your top 5 closest friends will make it easier for you when you want to chat online to your best friends. By using Friend Lists, your friends you most frequently chat to will be kept at the top of your Chat list, making it easier for you to find them.

What do the colored dots icons in chat represent?

If a greet circle appears next to the name of a friend this means that they are online and you can have an instant messenger conversation with him/her. If there is half moon grey circle this means that the contact is offline and you cannot speak to them using instant messenger but you can still send them an inbox message or post on their wall.

Report a photo: on the photo click on the link “report this photo” underneath the specific photo

Report an inbox message: in the message click on the link “report message”

Report a group/event : on the main page of the group or event click on the link “report” underneath the photo for the group/event

How do I block someone on Trinky?

People you block won't be able to find you in searches, view your profile, or contact you on Trinky. In order to block a contact, click on the heading ‘settings’ on the top right hand side of the page then select the heading ‘privacy settings’ and then click on the heading ‘block’. Enter the name or email address of the person you want to block in the appropriate field and click "Block." You can also block a contact by choosing the option to “block this person” if you have reported them.

If you cannot find someone using the Person search field, try going to their profile page. You can block them by clicking on the "Report/Block this Person" link at the bottom of their profile page. Once you click this link, check the "Block this person" box and then click "Submit."

People will not be notified when you block them. If you are unable to block someone using any of the methods listed above, it is possible that they have left Trinky or have restricted their privacy settings.

What happens if I forget my password?

Go to the homepage and click on ‘forgot your password.’ You will then need to enter your email address and type in the security code which will appear on the screen. You will then be sent an email with a link to reset your password.

Click on the heading ‘settings’ on the top right hand side of the page then select ‘account.’ Click on ‘change’ next to your password. Enter your old password and then the new password twice in order to change your password. Once you have changed your password click save and then your new password will be saved.

How do I change the email address associated with my account?

Click on the heading ‘settings’ on the top right hand side of the page then select ‘account’ and change your email address by clicking on ‘change’ next to your email address. Once you have entered your new email address click save and your new email address will be saved.

How do I upload a profile picture?

Click on your profile and then click on the image on the top left hand side of the page which says ‘upload a photo.’ You can either upload a profile picture from your computer, from an album cover or take a picture using your webcam and then uploading this. If you would like to use a photo from your computer then click on ‘add a photo from your computer.’ Once this is done you must accept the terms and conditions and you can then press confirm to upload your photo. If you would like to make an album cover your profile picture then go to your profile and cick on my photos. Choose the album cover that you would like to make your profile picture and then verify that you would like to make this your profile picture. If you would like to take a picture using a webcam and then use this as your profile picture you can do this by clicking on ‘take a picture with my webcam.’ Once you have a photo that you would like to use as your profile picture, accept the terms and then click on ‘confirm’ and your profile picture will be saved.

How do I change my profile picture?

Click on your profile on the top left hand side of the page and then click on your profile picture. A pop-up will appear. Click on change my photo and then you can upload a new profile picture. Once you have chosen your new profile picture, click on save and your new picture will be saved.

In order to protect the security of your account we recommend that you never click on suspicious links as there may be harmful and contain viruses and unwanted material. Make sure that you have a unique, strong password which is different to the password that you use for other sites and services. We recommend you use a complex password that is made up of combination numbers, letters, and punctuation marks that is at least six characters in length. Try to avoid simple words found in the dictionary. Make sure that you run anti-virus software. If your computer has been infected with a virus or with malware you should run anti-virus software to remove harmful programs and keep your information secure.
